Teacher Ethics & Student Cheating

Performance Objectives:

At the conclusion of this lesson the student will:

• distinguish between ethics, morals, and laws;
• identify at least two sources of professional teaching ethics;
• name the general areas to which professional teaching ethics apply;
• identify and explain the three main elements of a code of professional conduct:
  • concern for the student,
  • concern for the public, and
  • concern for teaching as a profession.
• explain the meaning of and rationale for the various NEA teaching ethics;
• explain the ethics science students should follow in class, lab, and homework;
• explain the basis for and types of student cheating;
• explain a number of ways to minimize cheating behavior.
