Unit Plans

Physics Teacher Education Program

Illinois State University

Students enrolled in Physics 311 at Illinois State University, "Teaching High School Physics," are required to prepare exhaustive unit plans with two ends in mind. First, the students learn to integrate their knowledge of and experiences in physics, psychology, and educational pedagogy. Second, the students familiarize themselves with the large number of resources and considerations (pedagogy, philosophy, demonstrations, laboratories, safety concerns, etc.) associated with the presentation of a single unit within physics. Each unit plan is prepared in consultation with the course instructor following a set of structured guidelines. Each lesson plan consists of 16 sections, and represents to work of an entire semester. These units plans are massive and might best be downloaded for printing and reading.
