Profiles of Women Scientists

Listed below are links to profiles of some of the women scientists (many of whom are physicists) who have made significant contributions to scientific discovery.  They and their stories also serve as role models for young students to encourage them to pursue their career dreams.

Marie S. Curie--discovered radium

Rosalind Franklin--photographed the structure of DNA  

Maria Goeppert Mayer--was the first person to investigate nuclear pairing

Lise Meitner--discovered and explained nuclear fission

Ellen Ochoa--First Hispanic Woman Astronaut in Space.  More information about her
